Spirit Run has seven races for high school aged and younger and a Toddler Trot. 

  • Youth finishers receive a Spirit Run medal.
  • Children compete to win Spirit Run medals and prizes including delicious Blaze Pizza every month for a year or Baking Betty's cookies. Visit our Awards Page to learn more.  
  • Children may compete in two races and win in both!
  • The Youth Mile races are part of Southern California USA Track & Field's (So Cal USATF) 2018 Road Championships. Youth Mile competitors who are USATF members are eligible to win USATF medals. For USATF membership information visit USATF's website.

Youth 5k

Spirit Run's Youth 5k is for high school aged and younger (i.e, age 19 and under). Children race without adult interference and a child breaks the finish line tape!

Participants in six age groups race to win delicious Blaze Pizza each month for a year (age 9 & up) or Baking Betty's cookies that "keep you coming back for s'more" (age 8 & under).

Youth 1/4 to 1 mile races

Spirit Run hosts six separate races ranging from ¼ mile to 1 mile for ages 4 - 19:

  • 1/4 Mile - Age 4
  • 1/2 Mile - Age 5-6
  • Mile - Age 7-8
  • Mile - Age 9-10
  • Mile - Age 11-12
  • Open Mile - Age 13-19

Competitors age 9 & up compete to win delicious Blaze Pizza every month for a year. Those age 8 & under compete to win Baking Betty's cookies that "keep you coming back for s'more."

In 2018, Spirit Run is partnering with Southern California USA Track & Field (So Cal USATF) to present So Cal USATF's Road Mile Championships. Youth Mile races are included.

So Cal USATF will award medals to youth winners who are 2018 USATF members. For USATF membership information visit USATF's website.

Twice the Fun: Spirit Run + Track Meet 4/6/2018

"Twice the Fun" entitles youth registrants to entry into Spirit Run and the City of Newport Beach Track Meet on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach. "Twice the Fun" is open to children born in years 2003 to 2011.

There are two choices when registering for "Twice the Fun" - "Twice the Fun Single Spirit Run" (one Spirit Run race) and "Twice the Fun Spirit Run Combo" (two Spirit Run races).

ToDDLER TROT

This event is for children age 3 and younger. It takes place in the expo inside a fenced large astro turf covered area. Multiple start times take place between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
